WRO Announces Research Task Group
Since the early days of the WRO there has been a desire to prove the effectiveness of the Rescue Challenge Concept (RCC) to Organisations within the Rescue and Medical Professions and to external organisations such as government departments, NGO’s and a wide range of associated organisations.
Anecdotal evidence has shown that the utilisation of the rescue challenge concept and associated training can and has reduced occurrences of secondary injuries on scene, and death in two of the three death distribution phases eg the pre hospital and hospital phases.
Unfortunately the understanding of the immense benefits derived from this concept is held by a relatively small group of organisations and individuals. As such, the ability to promote the implementation and development of the concept into other regions and countries has at times been difficult. This has resulted in a less rapid expansion of the RCC which in turn has slowed the development of rescue teams and therefore the opportunities to minimise occurrences injury and death.
Over the past ten years the WRO and its regional members have undertaken significant advances in promoting the RCC. In October 2009 it was agreed by the WRO committee that as part of the WRO’s ten year anniversary celebrations a task group would be established to develop a research tool which will aim to prove the benefits to individuals, organisations and countries that the RCC can bring.
